Willkommen in der Erdbeerwelt :)

Heute habe ich es endlich geschafft, meinen Blog anzulegen. Bis jetzt ist noch nicht sicher, wo ich genau hin gehen werde und wann ich fliege. Was ich bis jetzt schon getan habe: Im Dezember habe ich angefangen, mein Profil bei aifs anzulegen und mich so für das Programm zu bewerben. Bis ich alles zusammen hatte, war es schon März. Anfang Mai hatte ich dann mein Interview, bei dem ich einer Mitarbeiterin der Organisation etwas über mich, meine Familiensituation, meiner Erfahrungen mit Kindern usw. erzählen musste. Kurz darauf wurde ich dann offiziell in das Programm aufgenommen. Meine Bewerbung wurde dann zur aifs-Zentrale geschickt, um sie überprüfen zu lassen. Dann wurde sie an die Gastfamilien geschickt, die sich eventuell für mich interessieren könnten. Mit einer Gastfamilie habe ich schon geredet. Ich bin inzwischen furchtbar aufgeregt und freue mich schon sehr auf die kommenden Monate. Diese Woche werde ich allerdings nicht viel an das Auslandsjahr denken können, da meine Theateraufführung kurz bevor steht und ich viel proben muss. Bis ich wirklich im Flieger in die USA sitze, werde ich nicht regelmäßig etwas posten können. Aber ich werde euch auf jeden Fall auf dem Laufenden halten. :)

Today I finally managed to open my blog. I don't know where I am going to go and when I will fly to America till now. What has happened until now: In December I started to fill out my profile on my own aifs website, which I had to do to be able to apply for the program. I couldn't get everything together until march. In the beginning of may I had my interview with an employee of aifs. She asked me about my childcare experiences, my hobbies my situation at home, and so on. Shortly after I was accepted for the program. Afterwards my application has been sent to the main office of aifs to be checked one last time. Then the host families which could match my personality and my expectations could finally view my application. I already talked to one host family via skype. Till now I am super excited bput what has to come. This week however, I will not be able to report that much about my plannings for my gap year because I will be very busy with the preparations for my theatrical performance. I will start posting regularly as soon as I sit in the plane to the US. But I will definitely update you on what's happening as often as possible. :)

ich freue mich sehr, dass ihr euch auf meinen Blog verirrt habt. "Nach der Schule geht das Leben erst richtig los" - das sagen die Erwachsenen immer. Und genau aus diesem Grund habe ich diesen Blog eröffnet. Ich will endlich etwas spannendes erleben, außerhalb von Klassenzimmer und Heimatdorf. Und zu Anfang habe ich direkt etwas Großes geplant: ein Auslandsjahr als EduCare in America (Hier findet ihr Infos dazu: http://www.aifs.de/aupair/educare.php ). Ihr werdet hier etwas von meinen Erlebnissen in den USA lesen und so ein bisschen an meinem persönlichen Abenteuer teilhaben können. Da ich weiß, dass viele auch außerhalb von Deutschland meinen Blog lesen wollen, werde ich einfach zweisprachig schreiben (bitte entschuldigt meine Fehler. Ich bin kein Englisch native-speaker ;) ). Auf ein paar tolle Erlebnisse und ein gutes Jahr! Ich freue mich, dass ihr dabei seid. :)

Hello everyone,
thanks for visiting my blog! "After school life begins" - that's what the adults say (at least over here in Germany ;) ). And this is why I have decided to start this blog. I finally want to experience something new far away from my old classrooms and the rural lifestyle I am used to. Right for the beginning I have planned something big and adventurous: I will have a gap year as EduCare in America. As I couldn't find a website which explains the program, I will do it myself: Basically Educare means that you live with a host family for one year and care for the children. But besides that you can also go to university and have a lot of free time unlike a normal Au Pair does.
On this blog I would like to update you on my newest experiences in the US and therefore be able to participate in my personal American adventure. Before you start to go on reading the blog, I would like to point out that I'm not a native speaker (as you might have noticed by now) and that I want to apologize for all the mistakes I make in my English artciles. :)
And now I can just hope for a lot of fun experiences and a great year abroad! I am very happy to have you with me on my trip to the "new land" :)
